prelude

i woke up one morning

they were at it again

it wasn’t madame butterfly

more like vivaldi

close to spring

how could they

no conductor to be seen

all orchestrated

synchronized like ballerinas

underwater moving like computer codes

i could hear the sounds

bouncing off frequencies

short-wave, long-wave,

almost seemed like chaos

mixed in a fisherman’s bucket

but, listen carefully, one morning

you’ll hear it too

open your heart

better to listen that way

music’s in the heart,

not in the ears

music's in the heart, not in the ears
